Snow!

There's nothing like a good snow storm....it's so beautiful and quiet. I think I especially like the quiet. A fire in the fireplace, a cup of hot chocolate, a lighted Christmas tree and 7 1/4 inches of snow (and still falling)--it really doesn't get much better than that! Just need the family and it would be perfect!!

It does mean that not everything will be done for Christmas, but maybe that's good. As I think about the real meaning of Christmas it's not presents and rushing around. It's about the birth of our Lord and Savior who saved the world!! Maybe this year we will reflect on that, rather than being caught up in the busyness of the season. Who knows, maybe God sent us this snowstorm so we will stop and reflect. Hmmmmm, interesting thought!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Thunder and Lightning

Last night we had an absolutely beautiful thunder and lightning storm...several big streaks, lots and lots of flashes and loud thunder. It smelled so good as we sat and watched from the family room (with all the windows open). The rain was the "good" kind, big fat drops falling hard and fast. What a show! One we don't often have in Oregon so I think we appreciate it even more. I know I was sad when it was over. The poor dog, though, was a 100 pound quivering mass so I think she was relieved when it was done! Definitely not her favorite thing.

For some reason I can so see God in thunder storms...His Power and His Beauty. The fact that HE is in control, not us. It's a reminder to me that we as human beings are not in charge of this universe we live in as much as we would like to think we are. It's definitely something I need to remember.
